Functional constipation(FC)is a common clinical digestive disease.Current treatment is often based on drug therapy.Although drug therapy is effective in a short time it is ineffective in the long run and there is a possibility of recurrent constipation after drug withdrawal.Traditional Chinese medicine acupoint application therapy is one of the common external treat-ment methods for FC,which has significant advantages in alleviating the symptoms of constipation and improving the quality of life of patients.Combined with the current research on the treatment of FC by acupoint application of traditional Chinese medicine,this article discusses the mechanism of acupoint application,commonly used drugs,acupoints,clinical efficacy and so on,hoping to provide reference for the clinical research on the treatment of FC by traditional Chinese medicine.
