Diabetic nephropathy(DN)is one of the most serious microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus and an im-portant cause of end-stage renal disease.Studies have shown that oxidative stress is associated with one of the important patho-genesis of diabetic nephropathy,and its resulting metabolic disorders,hemodynamic abnormalities,and inflammation are in-volved in the whole process of the development of diabetic nephropathy.Chinese medicine,with its multiple targets,multiple pathways and low toxic side effects,has unique advantages in the treatment of DN.A large number of studies have confirmed that Chinese medicine can effectively reduce the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS),inhibit oxidative stress and reduce re-nal foot cell damage.This paper reviews the research progress of Chinese medicine monomers and compounds in preventing DN by inhibiting oxidative stress in the past five years,with a view to providing new ideas and methods for the treatment of DN.
