Research Progress on the Correlation Between Macrophage Polarization and Intestinal Mucosal Barrier
Activated macrophages are usually divided into two phenotypes,M1 macrophages and M2 macrophages, which are changed by a variety of factors such as microorganisms, tissue microenvironment and cytokine signaling.Macrophage polarity is important for infections, inflammatory diseases, and malignancies. Its management may be key to preventing and treating disease. The gut contains the largest pool of macrophages in the body, which are crucial for maintaining mucosal homeostasis of the micro-biome and post-injury healing, infection and tumor, but also an important part of protective immunity. In this paper, the role of macrophage polarization in intestinal mucosal barrier, intestinal inflammation and post-injury healing will be discussed in the case of IBS.The correlation between macrophage polarization and traditional Chinese medicine was also discussed.
