Study on the Analgesic Effects and its Mechanisms of Ethanol Extract of Calonyction acculeatum Beans
Objective To investigate the analgesic effects of ethanol extract of Calonyction acculeatum Beans and its primary analgesic mechanisms. Methods Mouse twisting numbers induced by acetic acid, mouse pain threshold after heat stimulation on hot-plate and in hot-water tests were observed to investigate the analgesic effects, meanwhile, the contents of prostaglandin E (PGE_2) and malondialdehyde (MAD) and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in mice serum and cerebrum were measured to explore primary analgesic mechanisms of calonyction aculeatum beans. Results The ethanol extracts of Calonyction aculeatum Beans could remarkably reduce mouse twisting numbers and prolong pain thresholds, meanwhile, it also reduced the elevated MDA and PGE_2 productions and enhanced SOD level in mice serum and cerebrum . Conclusion The ethanol extracts of Calonyction acculeatum Beans has significant analgesic effects, which may be related to reducing the elevated MDA, PGE_2 production and enhancing SOD level.
