Preparation and Characterization of Carboxymethyl Chitosan/Astragalus membranaceus Polysaccharides Hydrogel
Objective Carboxymethyl chitosan and Astragalus polysaccharide hydrogel was prepared with chitosan and Astragalus polysaccharide as raw materials. Methods The properties of hydrogel were improved by adding proper amount of Ca2+.The phys-ical and chemical properties of Astragalus polysaccharides were analyzed by methods of total sugar content determination,mono-saccharide composition analysis and infrared spectrum. The hydrogel was characterized through swelling rate, degradation rate, scanning electron microscopy, shear strain force performance and drug release amount. Results The results showed the Astragalus polysaccharide-carboxymethyl chitosan(CMC-ARO)had significant biodegradability, porous structure, controlled drug release effect and low cytotoxicity, adding low concentration of Ca2+can significantly affect the properties of the gel. Conclusion The pre-pared water gel has potential applications in drug delivery systems, wound healing, and tissue engineering materials.
