Discussion and exploration on theorizing brain-gut-sanjiao axis
The sanjiao theory has been continuously renewed and perfected in the history of traditional Chinese medicine,devel-oping to the dialectical system of the upper,middle and lower jiao,as well as the newly emerged theories of'horizontal sanjiao'and'dingjiao'.We found that sanjiao system in traditional Chinese medicine share some resemblances with the'intestinal flora-gut-brain axis'in terms of structure and function.Taking'nerve-body fluid'as the medium,this paper theorized the brain-gut-sanjiao axis system by integrating the theories of traditional sanjiao,horizontal sanjiao,dingjiao and gut-brain axis,and expand the sanjiao theory from a spatial point of view,providing new insights for clinical diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases.
