Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors of Insulin Resistance in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(Kidney Deficiency Phlegm-dampness Syndrome)
Objective The clinical characteristics and risk factors of patients with patients with PCOS of kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness syndrome accompanied by insulin resistance(IR)were analyzed through clinical cross-sectional study in order to identify PCOS-IR,and then provide basis for clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis management. Methods PCOS pa-tients who visited in the department of gynaecology and reproductive endocrinology of the Dongfang Hospital,Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from August 2021 to January 2023 were included according to the inclusion criteria.PCOS patients of kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness syndrome were classified according to whether they were accompanied by IR,and the influence of potential factors such as age,sex hormones, blood lipids were explored through univariate difference analysis. Then independ-ent risk factors were explored through binary Logistic regression analysis. Results A total of 90 PCOS patients with kidney defi-ciency and phlegm dampness were included.Among the different influencing factors of IR,the variables with statistical signifi-cance in univariate analysis were LH/FSH,TG and LDL(P<0.05 in LH/FSH,P<0.01 in TG,P<0.05 in LDL).Then they were included in the binary logistic regression analysis. The value assigned to IR occurrence was 0,the value assigned to IR occurrence was 1,and the positive event was PCOS-IR.The results showed that the higher TG of PCOS patients with kidney de-ficiency and phlegm dampness was independent risk factor for PCOS-IR,with statistical significance(OR=8.475,95%CI 2.920-24.601,P=0.000<0.01).Conclusion The occurrence of PCOS-IR in patients with kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness might be associated with low LH/FSH,high TG and high LDL levels.High TG is an independent risk factor for PCOS-IR,that is,the higher the TG of PCOS patients with kidney deficiency and phlegm dampness, the higher the IR risk.
