On the History of Diplomatic Translation in Sui and Tang Periods
The diplomatic translation of Sui and Tang Dynasties is,in different degrees,involved in different kinds of existing historical data,however,there is still short of systematic analysis on it.With his-toric document analysis and inductive method,The paper,based on the consensus topics on translation his-tory study and the available historical materials,analyzes the main characteristics of diplomatic interpretation in Sui and Tang periods in terms of the normalization of translators,the diversity of their duties,the mul-tilingualism of diplomatic translation,the selection of foreign translators,the refinement of translation forms,the precision of translation,the strictness of translators'management and punishment,and the standardization of translators'selection and training,with the hope of providing references for further studies.
