Randomized Controlled Study on the Use of Traditional Chinese Medicine Gel Patches with Sequential Application in Four Seasons to Improve Yang-Deficiency Constitution
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine gel patches with sequential application in four seasons in improving the yang-deficiency constitution, and to explore the optimal dosage form and intervention time for acupoint application to improve the yang-deficiency constitution. Methods The study subjects were 360 patients with yang-deficiency from the outpatient department of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Shenzhen Hospital(Longgang)and 19 Community Health Centers in Longgang District from July 2022 to August 2022.They were randomly divided into four groups:the Four Seasons Gel Group with 146 cases, the four seasons conventional group with 73 cases, the winter-summer gel group with 79 cases, and the winter-summer conventional group with 62 cases. The four seasons gel group used traditional Chinese medicine gel patches combined with the sequential therapy in four seasons, the four seasons conventional group used conventional dressings combined with the sequential therapy, the winter-summer gel group used traditional Chinese medicine gel patches during the"Sanfu"and"Sanjiu"periods, and the winter-summer conventional group used conventional dressings during the same periods. The patients'yang-deficiency quality scale conversion score, traditional Chinese medicine symptom score, and health survey short form 36 questionair(SF-36)score were observed before treatment and after the last treatment, and the efficacy was evaluated. Results The total effective rate in the four seasons gel group was significantly higher than that of the other three groups, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05);the traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores in all four groups were significantly reduced after treatment compared to before, and the score in the winter-summer conventional group was significantly higher than that of other three groups after treatment, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);the SF-36 scores in all four groups were significantly improved after treatment compared to before, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in SF-36 scores among the four groups after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine gel patches combined with sequential therapy in four seasons significantly improve the yang-deficiency constitution, effectively alleviate symptoms, and enhance the quality of life, contributing to the realization of comprehensive health for all.
