By sorting out a large amount of epitaph materials and classics,it is proven that as one of the secondary officials in the Tang Dynasty,the county registrar had diverse forms of responsibilities in va-rious regions,covering six major functions which are grassroots administration,criminal detention,educa-tion,postal services,economy,and concurrently performing official duties,rather than being limited to the basic rights and responsibilities summarized by traditional chronicles research in the past.
