The essential oil ofLindera communis Hemsl leaves was extracted and compared using two different methods. The volatile components in leaves ofL.communis Hemsl were extracted by distillation-extraction method (DSE) and simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE),and the components were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).The results indicated that volatile components in leaves ofL.communis Hemsl extracted by the two methods were different.Thirty-four chemical components were identified by DSE,and the major component was eucalyphol accounting for 38.82% of total volatile components.Thirty-nine chemical components were identified by SDE,and the major component was eucalyptol accounting for 33.00% of total volatile components. The appropriate method of extracting the essential oil in leaves ofL.communis Hemsl was established in this paper.
