Effects of Different Storage Conditions on the Physiology and Biochemistry of Hemp Seeds and Their Viability
To investigate the changes of physiological indexes of hemp seeds under different moisture content and storage temperature treat-ments,and to provide a scientific basis for the preservation of hemp germplasm resources.Hemp seeds from Chuxiong,Yunnan and Daqing,Heilongjiang were stored at 6 different moisture contents for 6 months at 7 ℃,-15 ℃,-30 ℃,-80 ℃ and about 25 ℃ at room temperature, and the changes of catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POD),dehydrogenase(DHA),malondialdehyde(MDA),relative conductivity and germination rate were analyzed. The results showed that the physiological indicators of hemp seeds were affected by different moisture contents and storage temperatures, and the DHA activity of both Chuxiong,Yunnan and Daqing,Heilongjiang seeds tended to increase and then decrease with in-creasing seed moisture content. The CAT activity of Daqing seeds tended to increase with the increase of seed moisture content. There was an increasing trend of MDA content with increasing moisture content in both varieties. The relative electrical conductivity of seeds increased with increasing moisture content in both varieties. In addition, compared with other storage temperatures, the seeds of Chuxiong maintained a higher germination rate at all moisture contents at 7 ℃.These results suggested that the storage temperature is 7 ℃,the moisture content of Chuxiong seeds is at about 5.13%-6.16%,the moisture content of Daqing seeds is at about 4.03%~5.26%of hemp seed viability is better, which can im-prove the quality of the seed, and has an important reference value in the selection of hemp seed storage conditions.
