Astragalus polysaccharide is one of the important active ingredients and has been widely used in clinical treatment and aquacul-ture.Astragalus polysaccharide can be used both as medicine and food.It has a complex structure,is a mixture,mainly macromolecular pol-ysaccharides.Some studies have found that Astragalus polysaccharides have pharmacological effects such as anti-tumor,anti-virus,blood sugar regulation,anti-oxidation,and immune regulation.The extraction methods of Astragalus polysaccharides include solution extraction,microbial fermentation extraction,enzymatic extraction,physical-assisted extraction,etc.Separation and purification methods include frac-tional alcohol precipitation,chromatography column method,macroporous resin adsorption method,etc.This article reviews the extraction,separation,purification methods and various pharmacological activities of Astragalus polysaccharides.The advantages and disadvantages of different extraction,separation and purification methods were compared and the mechanism of pharmacological activity of Astragalus polysaccharides was discussed,which provide theoretical basis for further development of Astragalus polysaccharides.
