Analysis of the Daily Activity Time Distribution and Behavior Rhythm of Caged Macaca assamensis
In order to understand the impact of captive environment on the allocation of daily activity time and behavioral rhythm of Macaca assamensis, four captive Macaca assamensis(one female and three male)were observed at Xishan Zoo in Duyun City using the Instan-taneous scan sampling method from April 2017 to March 2018.The result showed that the allocation of activity time for captive Macaca assamensis days is the sleeping(57.18%),playing(28.58%),cadging(4.57%),feeding(3.99%),calling(2.01%),moving(1.97%),grooming(1.56%),and approaching(0.14%),respectively.There were significant differences in time allocation of behaviors such as sleeping, moving, and calling per unit time during observation(P<0.05),the daily activity time of sleeping, moving, playing, and grooming showed significant differences between adult and young male(P<0.05),there was a significant difference(P<0.05)in sleeping, moving, grooming, playing, cadging, and calling between adult male and female.During the four seasons, there were signifiicant differences in grooming in summer, sleeping and grooming in autumn, sleeping and grooming and playing in winter(P<0.05)in adult males and females, there were significant differences in sleeping, playing and calling between adult and young males(P<0.05).The behavioral rhythms of grooming, playing and cadging of adult male and female were significantly different in different time periods(P<0.05).The behavioral rhythms of sleeping,mov-ing,playing,begging and calling were significantly different between adult and young male(P<0.05).There were significant differences in sleeping, moving and feeding among adult males(P<0.05)at the four seasons. There were significant differences in the sleeping and playing of adult females(P<0.05)at the four seasons. There were significant differences in sleeping, moving, feeding, playing, cadging and calling among young males(P<0.05)at the four seasons. In a captive environment, the daily activity time allocation and behavioral rhythm of Macaca assamensis are influenced by gender, age and season factors.
