Study on the Effect of Brake Cylinder Exhaust Response and Processes on Longitudinal Force of Heavy Haul Train
Heavy haul trains pass through long ramps during operation, which will generate large forces on the coupler, and from the train operation, the current 20,000-ton train large coupler force mainly occurs when the train is released.A simulation study is conducted in terms of the inter-vehicle brake cylinder exhaust response and the brake cylinder exhaust rate to investigate the relationship between the two and the longitudinal force. The results show that the maximum longitudinal force generated by train releasing decreases by 11%with the increase of release wave speed from 150 m/s to 200 m/s;the maximum longitudinal force generated by train releasing decreases by 59%with the increase of brake cylinder exhaust time from 5.3 s to 30.0 s.Appropriately increasing the exhaust time of brake cylinders is helpful to reduce the coupler force during train releasing.
