Chinese railways contains four heavy-duty coal lines,realizing a total railway traffic of coal up to 2.79 billion tons in 2022 and a total railway freight traffic of 4.984 billion tons of which the coal transportation representing about 56%.The coal trains have an obvious characteristic that is"come fully loaded and return empty",the coal cars have only two states during transportation:completely empty cars and fully loaded cars.Meanwhile,there is a certain gap between the empty/load adjusting equipment for Chinese railway wagons and the world advanced level.During operation of train,the empty/load adjusting equipment presents problems such as lower reliability of operational performance and airtightness of rubber parts and shorter maintenance cycle.Based on this actuality,the article studies a new type of two-stage empty/load adjusting equipment applicable to Chinese railway coal lines which can obviously improve the operational performance and the reliability of the empty/load adjusting equipment through innovation of principle and structure.
