Exploration and Practice on Centralized Freight Business for Boten-Vientiane Section of China-Laos Railway
The Boten-Vientiane section of the China-Laos Railway is a 422-km single-track electrified standard gauge line for both passengers and freight,with a design speed of 160 km/h.It is a significant project of infrastructure connectivity linking China with South Asia and Southeast Asia under the"Belt and Road Initiative".This paper elaborated on the basic situation of the Boten-Vientiane section of the China-Laos Railway.The paper conducted a SWOT analysis to illustrate the feasibility of a centralized freight business in that section from four aspects:implementation advantages,existing disadvantages,opportunities,and possible threats.It demonstrated the current achievements of the centralized freight business and provided a strategy for improved practice with the following procedures:electronic consignment note between China and Laos railway transportation,the centralization of part of the freight indoor work,the construction of intelligent goods yard led by access control system,the centralization of freight business of entire railway.Additionally,the paper used a Gantt chart to indicate the key points of each stage and show the predicted schedules,providing a specific and feasible solution for centralized freight business in the Boten-Vientiane section of the China-Laos Railway.
