Simulation and Characterization of Temperature Fields for General-Purpose Container Insulation Measures
To study the coupling relationship of temperature fields among environment, containers, and cargo in northwestern China where the climate is variable,a convection-radiation coupling model, based on the turbulence model, was constructed with a 20ft railway general-purpose container as the study object in the plateau environment. The fluid simulation was used to determine the distribution characteristics of the temperature fields. This paper analyzed the temperature field distribution of lightweight aluminum and polypropylene plastic cargo loaded into a general-purpose container under the environmental conditions of northwestern China. It was observed that the temperature change inside the polypropylene plastic container was uneven, with a moderately large difference between the highest and lowest temperatures. Two heat insulation schemes were designed, using the distribution characteristics of the temperature fields inside the polypropylene plastic container as an illustrative example. The simulation results indicate that the application of polyurethane foam to the top and side walls of the container can effectively control the temperature, providing strategies for transporting goods with similar thermal properties.
