Comparison of Iron Ore Transportation through Handan-Huanghua Port Corridor under Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals
"Shifting Freight traffic from Road to Railway"(SFRR)can effectively reduce carbon emissions, contributing to realizing carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The calculation model of direct cost,time-utility cost, security cost, and carbon emission cost involved in 8 schemes of iron ore transportation through highway or Handan-Huanghua Port Railway with different power types was proposed.Relevant parameters were obtained by inquiry or investigation, and the relevant cost was calculated for analysis. The results show that, compared with highway transport by diesel trucks,Handan-Huanghua Port Railway is the best choice for freight owners at present, which has advantages in 3 aspects except time-utility cost.Among all schemes, carbon emission cost accounts for less than 1%of the total cost, meaning that carbon tax levy or increase does not directly affect freight owners'choice of transport mode.As for road transport, electric trucks have an absolute advantage over others in energy consumption and carbon emission but they are more suitable for short-distance transport within 100 km due to their driving range.
