With the continuous development of urban agglomeration and metropolitan circle in China,the demand for"four-network integration"of rail transit is increasingly urgent.Compared with trunk railway,intercity railway and urban rail transit,the functional role of suburban railway is the most variable.As an important part of"four-network integration",the development of suburban railway is an important issue in China's current transportation.In general,suburban railway development can be classified into two modes:construction of new suburban railway and renovation of utilizing existing railways.Choosing a reasonable development mode can promote regional integrated development and optimize the layout of urban functions.Based on the characteristics of suburban railway,this paper analyzes its connotation and functional characteristics of suburban railway,systematically sorts out the development status quo and existing problems with suburban railway,studies the development modes of suburban railway based on cases,summarizes and analyzes the problems that need to be considered in the development of suburban railways and makes recommendations.It can provide reference for the planning and construction of suburban railway in China.
