Conducting an assessment of rail status for common speed railway can effectively solve the problem of in-sufficient rail maintenance caused by unreasonable resources distribution of grinding machines and inadequate infor-mation of rail diseases.Accurately grasp the usage status of rails can provide a data basis for optimize the arrange-ment of grinding plans and the transition from"periodic repair"to"state repair"of rail grinding.The evaluation algo-rithm indexes and digitizes the rails status,dividing them into basic scores such as rail profile GQI,light band,total weight passed,rail wear,total weight passed after recent grinding,rail flaw detection results,and deduction scores for diseases such as fish scale,chipping,abrasion,fat edge,and corrugation.Finally,based on the scores,the rails are di-vided into A,B,and C levels.Through the analysis of the evaluation results of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway,Lanzhou-Lianyungang Railway,Beijing-Kowloon Railway,and Shanghai-Kunming Railway within the jurisdiction of China Railway Shanghai Group Co.,Ltd.,it is found that priority should be given to grinding the rails in poor use sta-tus,which can make full use of the grinder force to improve the rail status.In the arrangement of the grinding plan,the method of"filling in the gaps"is used to arrange the grinding,which has a significant effect on improving the overall status of the rail.
