The micro-/nanohelices possess superelasticity,large linear elasticity and high mechanical stability.They are one of the frontier subject of materials science.In this paper,the mechanical properties of micro-/nanohe-lices with rectangular sections were analysed based on Kirchhoff rod model.By establishing the models for nor-mal and binormal helices,we studied the load capability and the Hooke's constants with the aid of the geometry and material parameters of the SiGe/Si/Cr nanohelices.According to the theoretical results,the Hooke's constants increase with the increase of the elongation for both kinds of helices.In the linear elastic domain,the Hooke's constants almost remain the same.As the linear elastic domain of the binormal helices are larger than that of the normal ones,they have the better linear elasticity,which is beneficial to their application in the mechanical sys-tem.
