Inserting additional trains into the existing timetable is a commonly used method for train diagram regulations. If turnover connections of EMUs can be considered in the"train inserting"process,it is of great significance to reduce operation cost and improve train organization efficiency. In this study, based on the network operation of regional intercity railway network,an optimization model for adding trains into"multi rail lines"considering EMU turnover connections col-laboratively was proposed to minimize the adjustment of the existing diagram and maximize the number of EMU turnover connections, and take into account the constraints of train running safety, station capacity, and EMU turnover connections.Based on the epsilon constraint method to deal with multi-objective optimization problems,a rolling horizon algorithm was designed to improve the efficiency of model solving. Finally, regional intercity networks composed of Nanjing—Hangzhou,Shanghai—Kunming and Beijing—Shanghai railways were chosen for case study. The results show that the proposed method can achieve collaborative optimization of both inserting additional trains and EMU utilization.Compared to the tra-ditional inserting mode for a single line, the utilization rate of EMU is increased by 9.7%in average. This study can pro-vide methodological support and improve the quality and efficiency for the train diagram regulation.
