Research on Effect of Si Element on Thermal Stability of Titanium Alloy
Three Ti-Si binary alloys with different Si content were exposed to heat for 100 h at different temperatures, and their thermal stability was characterized by mechanical properties testing. The effect of Si element on the thermal stability of titanium alloy was studied. The results show that under the experimental conditions, the addition of Si element improves the tensile strength of the alloy, and the higher the Si content, the greater increase in strength. In the process of thermal exposure, the tensile strength of the Ti-Si alloys decreases when the thermal exposure temperature is higher than 450℃.The Ti-Si alloys show the worst thermal stability at 500℃/100 h thermal exposure, and the elongation of Ti-0.4Si alloy is reduced to 28.0%.The Ti5Si3 formed by the diffusion and segregation of Si elements is the main factor affecting the thermal stability of the Ti-Si alloy.
