Effect of VAR Feeding Process on Quality of TC11 Titanium Alloy Ingot
This article divides the feeding process of vacuum arc remelting(VAR)into initiation, cooling period and baking period, and the effects of feeding process on the riser depth, chemical composition and average grain size of ingot head were studied. The results indicate that as the melting current increases, the riser depth of ingot enhances, the compositional deviation and average grain size of ingot head all increase;with extension of cooling duration, the riser depth of ingot decreases and there exists a certain linear relationship between the cooling duration and riser depth;with the extension of barking time, the riser depth decreases, but the compositional deviation and average grain size of ingot head increase;the TC11 titanium alloy ingots with small riser depth, uniform composition, and better grain size can be obtained by smaller smelting current before VAR feeding, extend the cooling period and control the baking time.
