RESEARCH ON INFLUENCING FACTORS IN HIGH CARBON FERROCHROME SMELTING PROCESS
The article summarizes relevant literature at home and abroad, and believes that the main factors affecting the smelting of high carbon ferrochrome are the physical properties, chemical properties, and chemical composition of the furnace charge. The physical and chemical properties of the furnace charge are influenced by the its chemical com-position.At the same time, the influence of chemical components such as MgO,Al2O3,SiO2,CaO,and carbon re-ductants on the smelting of high carbon ferrochromium was elaborated, among these, carbon reductants playing a deci-sive role in the electrical resistivity of the furnace charge;while MgO,Al2O3,and SiO2 have a greater impact on pa-rameters such as meltability, melting point, and viscosity during smelting. The article also analyzed the effects of vari-ous chemical components on the chromite reduction, among which Fe,FeO,Fe3 O4,SiO2,CaO,NaOH,and borate can promote its reduction, while MgO can inhibit it.In addition, the effects of MgO/Al2O3 ratio and slag basicity on the smelting of high carbon ferrochrome were summarized.By controlling the MgO/Al2O3 ratio between 1.3 and 1.9 and keeping the basicity not more than 1.4,the smelting power consumption, coke consumption can be reduced and the chromium recovery rate can be raised.
