PREPARATION OF BORON CARBIDE AND ITS APPLICATION IN BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE AND NUCLEAR ENERGY
As a ceramic material with the third highest hardness value,boron carbide(B4C)is characterized by high hardness,low density,good physicochemical stability and good neutron absorption.These properties make it widely used in light armor,coating materials,abrasive media,electrocatalytic materials and nuclear fission control.Boron carbide has extremely stable covalent bonds and is an important basic material for the preparation of fuel cell catalysts.Aluminum-based boron carbide composites are neutron-absorbing materials with integrated structure and function,and their applications in neutron shielding properties,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance are of great scientific significance for the construction and safe operation of nuclear power plants in China.
