MECHANISM AND PROCESS RESEARCH ON QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF WALL CLIMBING ZIRCONIA
Through hierarchical and local analysis of the microstructure of climbing zirconium formed on the crucible wall during the thermal reduction process of magnesium zirconium tetrachloride,combined with the distribution charac-teristics of impurity elements,the nucleation mechanism of climbing zirconium and the mechanism of impurity element iron and oxygen increase are explored.By analyzing the mechanism of the effect of reducing crucible material and tar-geted optimization,analyzing the diffusion of zirconium impurities near the crucible wall climbing,and selecting sur-face treatment methods,the quality of climbing zirconium can reach the level of sponge zirconium.Combined with inert gas protection storage and synchronous vacuum distillation with sponge zirconium to remove magnesium chloride and metallic magnesium,the yield of sponge zirconium system can be increased.
