DETERMINATION OF PHOSPHORUS CONTENT IN RARE EARTH IRON ALLOYS BY BISMUTH PHOSPHOMOLYBDENUM BLUE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD
This article aims to establish a method suitable for determining the phosphorus content in rare earth ferroalloys. The samples were decomposed by aqua royalty solution and the perchloric acid fumed to a small volume. In sulfuric acid medium, the phosphorus, bismuth and ammonium molybdate formed yellow phosphobismuth molybdate terpolymer acid, which was reduced to blue complex by ascorbic acid. The absorbance was measured at 700 nm wavelength by spectrophotometer. The content of phosphorus was calculated. The decomposition conditions, colorimetric conditions and precision of samples were investigated in this paper. The result shows that the precision and accuracy of the method satisfy the requirements of detection.
