The Characteristics of the Pre-Qin Rites and Customs Found in the Unearthed Books of Rishu
As a kind of physical historical materials,the unearthed books of Rishu made up for the insuffi-ciency of the research of the handed down documents,and provided scholars with an opportunity to direct-ly understand the social rites and customs in the pre-Qin era.The practicability,regionality,inheritance and constraint of the pre-Qin rites and customs can be seen in the unearthed books of Rishu,with the results of their own development.The practicability of the rites and customs in Rishu can be seen from the aspects of childbirth,clothing,architecture,agriculture,sacrificial rites and customs,and the setting of the contents.The present books of Rishu in the pre-Qin era are mainly about the countries of Qin and Chu.From the two kinds of books of Rishu,we can see the difference of rites and customs between Qin and Chu.The tra-ditions of pre-Qin era in Rishu are mainly embodied in the aspects of rites of life,livelihood and produc-tion.The covenant of etiquette and custom in Rishu can be seen from the taboo date and taboo conse-quence of the relevant etiquette and custom.
