The Narrative Mechanism of Oracle Bone Inscriptions:From Oral Words to Written Recording
The narrative writing was the predominant style of prose in the pre-Qin era,with notable narra-tive sections found in Guoyu,The Commebtary of Zuo,and Strategies of the Warring States.The success of narrative prose in the pre-Qin era depends on the clarification of the questions of where the narrative writing originates from,in what form it exists,and what drives it from the standpoint of literary history.Or-acle bone inscriptions are currently the earliest systematic documents in China,characterized by their narra-tive nature.Consequently,this paper will analyze the narrative mechanisms of oracle bone inscriptions from the perspectives of types,techniques,and motivations,aiming to identify the significant origins of narrative prose and to reveal the value of these oracle inscriptions in the development of Chinese prose writing.
