The Development of the Sino-German Relations Under the Perspective of the Belt and Road Initiative:Potential and Challenges
The German federal government has been active in supporting and participating in the Belt and Road Initiative mainly because it has recognized that the initiative implies great potential to promote the development of Sino-German relations.For instance,Sino-German cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative can increase bilateral interaction at the global level,promote bilateral trade and investment as well as cooperation in the third markets,and strengthen cooperation in the financial sector.However,due to deviations in German perception of the Belt and Road Initiative,some people in Germany still cling to the old geopolitical competition mindset,which poses challenges for the Sino-German cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative.In fact,both sides should uphold the mutual-benefit and win-win concept so as to tap the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative for the future development of Sino-German relations.
