A Study on the Protection and Management Methods of Shanghai's Historic Urban Public Parks from the Perspective of Heritage
Historic urban public parks,as carriers of historical memory and chronological information, now also serve as urban public spaces with public service functions. However, during the process of renewal and transformation, these parks often confront issues such as the disappearance of heritage characteristics and a decline in public perception, challenging the balance between needs of conservation and development. With the transformation of urban construction in the new era,the conservation management of historic urban public parks urgently needs to shift towards heritage conservation.Through interviews with managers of historic urban public parks in Shanghai and subsequent qualitative analysis,it is found that current conservation management efforts in these parks revolve around four core content areas, including dynamic monitoring, restoration and maintenance, landscape optimization, and cultural construction.Key problems identified include inadequate preservation of information and materials, unclear management system standards, insufficient technical support for repairs and restoration, and inadequate promotion of historical values. With the change of perspective, the protection and management of historic urban public parks should pay more attention to the dynamic process and the full cycle of protection and management.A whole-process protection and management work framework should be established from the five stages of"heritage investigation, dynamic monitoring, evaluation and analysis, implementation and disposal, and heritage interpretation".
