Impact of Humanoid Robots on Different Types of Privacy and the Legal Responses
The integration of humanoid robots and artificial intelligence has enabled the emergence of"embodied artificial intelligence"robots with realistic humanoid design, highly intelligent environmental perception and decision-making abilities,as well as language learning and social interaction abilities. The unique intelligent features of humanoid robots make their invasion of personal privacy more covert and penetrating. The application of humanoid robots in medical and financial services, emergency rescue, education, aerospace, and military scenarios is riskier in terms of the impact on personal privacy compared to retail services and entertainment scenarios. To address the impact of humanoid robots on different types of privacy, appropriate strategies should be developed based on privacy typology theory, taking into account the application scenarios and risk classification of humanoid robots.Firstly,it involves setting clear standards for informed consent to mitigate effect of humanoid robots on negative aspect of freedom of privacy, such as privacy of body, space, communication, and proprietary.Secondly,it needs to extend the types of privacy rights to alleviate the negative impact of humanoid robots on positive aspect of freedom of privacy, such as privacy of knowledge,decision-making,association,and behavior.Thirdly,it should adopt moderate regulations to address the negative impact brought about by the combination of humanoid robots and manipulative artificial intelligence classified under the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act.Besides, setting governance rules for high-risk privacy scenarios should be taken into consideration to address the negative impact brought about by the combination of humanoid robots and high-risk artificial intelligence.
