Influence of High Performance Fiber Type and Fabric Structure on Ballistic Performance
In order to develop different bulletproof fabrics,7 high-performance fiber fabrics were selected as the research objects and soft targets of the same size were made for ballistic impact testing. The influencing factors were analyzed from two aspects:fiber type and fabric structure. The research results indicate that when the fiber composition is the same and the surface density of laminated fabrics is close, the bulletproof performance of weft free fabrics is better than that of woven fabrics.Among layered fabrics with similar weight, the bulletproof performance of multi-layer thin fabrics is better than that of thin and thick fabrics with fewer layers. There is a significant negative correlation between fabric density and the specific energy absorption value(SEA)of the fabric. As the fabric density decreases, the higher the specific energy absorption value of the fabric, the better its bulletproof performance.Conversely, the worse the bulletproof performance.Choosing thin and thin fabrics, increasing the number of layers of layered fabrics, and reducing the density of fabrics are beneficial for improving the bulletproof performance of fabrics.
