Research progress of polyvinyl chloride membrane in wastewater treatment
Among the numerous polymer materials,low-cost polyvinyl chloride(PVC)has been prepared as a membrane material and widely applied in fields such as wastewater treatment due to its excellent performance. However, the hydrophobic nature of PVC membranes leads to the adsorption or deposition of macromolecules and biomolecules(such as polysaccharides and proteins),salts, and colloids from wastewater on the membrane surface and pores, resulting in fouling and affecting membrane separation performance. Therefore, improving the hydrophilicity and anti-pollution performance of PVC membranes is crucial for enhancing their application prospects. This article focuses on the effective methods and research progress in enhancing the hydrophilic properties of PVC membranes in recent years.
