A qualitative study on factors affecting compliance with opioid medication in lung cancer patients
Objective:To explore the factors affecting compliance behavior of opioid medication in patients with lung cancer and to provide reference for standardizing cancer pain management and improving the quality of life of patients.Methods:A semi-structured interview was conducted among 12 lung cancer patients receiving opioids medication by purposive sampling.The data were summarized and integrated by Colaizzi's seven-step analysis method.Results:The factors affecting compliance behavior of opioid medication in patients with lung cancer were summarized into five themes,they were unclear target positioning,wrong cognition of cancer pain and drugs(wrong cognition of cancer pain and drugs,worry about adverse drug reactions),negative expectation effect,obstacles of objective factors and lack of relevant support.Conclusion:Patients with lung cancer have a great psychological and physiological burden during opioid medication.Medical staffs should timely correct patients' wrong cognition,relieve bad emotions,and provide targeted intervention to improve patients'medication adherence.
