Reliability and validity testing of health literacy scale for young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease
Objective:To develop a health literacy scale for young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease and test its reliability and validity,so as to provide reference for health education and management of the group by medical staff. Methods:Based on the Paasche-Orlow and Wolf health literacy model and KAP theory, the initial scale was formed after literature review,semi-structured interview, two rounds of expert consultation and pre-experiment.A total of 204 young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease were conveniently selected for investigation, and item analysis and reliability and validity test of the scale were conducted from September 2022 to January 2023.Results:The health literacy scale for young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease contained 3 dimensions and 18 items. The content validity index of the items ranges from 0.8 to 1.0,and the content validity index of the scale was 0.952.Three common factors including resource acquisition and utilization,doctor-patient communication and self-care were extracted. The item load of each factor was>0.4,the cumulative variance contribution rate was 69.001%.The Cronbach'sα coefficient of the scale was 0.933,Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension was 0.919,0.865 and 0.920.Conclusion:The health literacy scale for young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease is scientific and practical, which can be used as a tool for medical staff to evaluate health literacy for young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease, and can provide a basis for evaluating the health literacy level of young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease.
