The status and influencing factors of post-traumatic growth in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder
Objective:To describe the post-traumatic growth level in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder,and explore the influencing factors from the perspectives of demography,family,and disease,so as to explore the relevant variables which promote the post-traumatic growth of parents.Methods:Convenience sampling method was used and parents of children with autism spectrum disorder who visited the Children's Behavioral Development Center of a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou were included.The general information questionnaire and the Post Traumatic Growth Rating Scale(PTGI)were used to assess the posttraumatic growth in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.Univariate analysis and multiple linear regression were used to explore the influencing factors of parental posttraumatic growth of children with autism spectrum disorder.Results:The parental post-traumatic growth score was 58.79±18.92.The scores of each dimension from high to low were life insight,personal strength,self transformation,new possibilities,and relationships with others.The duration of contacting with children was the influencing factor of posttraumatic growth of parents.Conclusion:The post-traumatic growth in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder is in the middle level,and the duration of contacting with children is an important controllable factor for the post-traumatic growth in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.
