Investigation on Feasibility of Ignition and Detonation Trigger by Low Temperature Plasma Based on AC Drive
In order to overcome the difficulty on initiation of combustion by continuous dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) based on AC drive in detonation tube, a plasma ignition device were designed successfully by frequency controlling,which can produce low temperature plasma periodically. The discharge parameter is ad-justable. The single discharge time ranges from 0.1ms to 1000ms,and the variation of frequency is from 0.1Hz to 100Hz. The combustible mixture can be ignited and the detonation waves were observed in tube with single dis-charge time 0.5ms,by fixing a coaxial-type electrode into plasma ignition device. The research demonstrate that it is feasible to initiate detonation by low temperature plasma based on AC drive.
