Effects of Rehmannia glutinosa on the growth and development of Helicoverpa armigera H.
In order to explore the use of plant resources to control target pests, this paper selected the common weed Rehmannia glutinosa to treat cotton bollworm, the main pest in cotton field, used feed,R.glutinosa root and leaf dry powder mixing method and preparation of plant extract, investigated the development period, mortality and insect weight of cotton bollworm, and studied the influence on them. The results showed that with the increase of Rehmanniae root and leaf powder content in diets, the mortality and development period increased but the weight of cotton bollworm decreased.Compared with the control group, the mortality of the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th instar larvae was increased by 3.25%-5.82%,22.92%-35.42%,4.10%-9.69%,41.22%-65.58%and 12.65%-67.67%,respectively.The larval development period of the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th instars of cotton bollworm was delayed by 0.00-2.50,1.00-2.25,1.00-6.25,0.00-1.75,0.50-1.50 d,respectively. When the larval development reached the 6th instar, there was slow growth and inability to complete life cycle;the larva weight of the 3rd,4th,5th and 6th instars was 43.79-130.18,152.56-255.47,127.27-327.91 and 41.75-177.22 mg lower than that of the control, respectively. In addition, compared with the control group, the mortality of the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th instars of Helicoverpa armigera larvae fed with the mixed feed of R.glutinosa leaves increased by 5.75%-11.46%,3.09%-11.67%,42.71%-66.27%,16.29%-83.33%,21.67%-100.0%and 5.17%-42.67%,respectively;the larval development of the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th instars was 1.00-2.00,0.00-4.00,0.00-4.00,0.00-0.50 and 1.50-4.00 d,respectively, and the 6th instar larvae could not complete the life cycle normally. The larval weight of the 3rd,4th,5th and 6th instars was 47.11-134.18,170.76-259.19,141.51-317.33 and 78.24-334.93 mg lower than that of the control, respectively.By studying the effects of R.glutinosa on the growth, development, mortality and insect weight of H.armigera, the results showed that R.glutinosa had certain inhibitory effects on H.armigera, which lays a theoretical foundation for the effective utilization of weed resources in farmland to develop plant-derived insecticides.
