A Comparative Study on the Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activities of Different Solvent Extracts from Walnut Green Husk
In order to explore the potential functional activity of walnut green husk, this study used 90%ethanol,petroleum ether, ethyl acetate,n-butanol and distilled water as solvents to extract the active substances of walnut green husk by system solvent method, and the in vitro antioxidant capacity and bacteriostatic activity of the different solvent extracts were determined. The results showed that the extraction rate of walnut green husk by 90%ethanol was 36.79%,and the extraction amounts of total phenol and ju-glone were 70.36 mg·g-1 and 1.38 mg·g-1,respectively.The clearance rates of OH and O2 of ethyl acetate extract were 37.52%and 56.53%,which were higher than those of other solvent extracts. In terms of antibacterial activity, different solvent extracts showed different antibacterial effects on 5 tested bacteria,n-butanol extract>90%ethanol extract>ethyl acetate extract>raffinate water ex-tract>petroleum ether extract. In conclusion, walnut green husk extract showes good potential antioxidant and antibacterial activities, and has the potential to develop plant-derived antioxidants and antibacterial agents.
