In order to understand the growth status of Platanus acerifolia along the streets in Wuhan Hubei province, taking 326 trees as research object, growth indexes such as diameter at breast height, plant height, crown width as well as health indexes such as dead branch rate, main trunk inclination degree, trunk damage circumference ratio, and root decay condition were measured.Meanwhile, the correlation between soil physical and chemical properties and the growth status of trees were analyzed. The results showed that the average diameter at breast height(DBH)of Platanus acerifolia was 37.54 cm,and trees with DBH between 20 cm and 30 cm were the most. The average height of Platanus acerifolia was 12.70 m,the proportion of trees with height between 8 m and 13 m account for 40.50%.The average crown width was 7.80 m,and there were 58.4%of the trees having a crown width between 5 m and 10 m.About 44.4%of Platanus acerifolia had no branches and leaves damages, and the proportion of trees with a dead branch rate within 10%was 44.7%.29.6%of the trees exhibited slight inclination,10.6%trees inclined moderately, and 1.5%had a severe in clination.46.7%of the trees had no trunk damage, the proportion of trees having a damage circumference ratio of less than 1/3 was 47.3%,and 6.0%of the trees were damaged severely with the ratio exceeding 1/3.There were 46.7%of trees having healthy root,38.5%had a slight root rotting, and 3%of the tree roots decayed badly. The health status of street trees had a significant positive correlation with non-capillary porosity, and excessively high soil pH and relatively low nutrient content may had an negative effort on the growth of Platanus acerifolia.Overall,Platanus acerifolia trees along the street in Wuhan are in good health. However, further maintenance and management are still needed to promote the growth by improving soil structure and increasing nutrient content.
