Digital Economy,Industrial Upgrading and Rural-Urban Divide——An Intermediate Effect Model Test of the Con-struction of Common-Prosperity Demonstration Zones in Zhejiang Province
In the present,the imbalance between urban and rural areas has grown into one of the main causes of social conflicts.In the process of high-quality construc-tion of common-prosperity demonstration zones,the rural-urban divide is still a promi-nent problem plaguing the development of Zhejiang province.Being inclusive and open for sharing,digital economy is highly compatible with the real meaning of common pros-perity and therefore has become a powerful driving force of the latter.An intermediary effect model is established to study the relationship of digital economy,industrial up-grading and rural-urban divide and an empirical test shows that the industrial upgrad-ing can be effectively promoted through digital economy and the urban-rural divide can be reduced accordingly.Driven by the industrial upgrading,the development of digital economy has a significant effect on narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas,thus promoting common prosperity.It is suggested that Zhejiang province take advan-tage of the development of digital economy to promote the upgrading of both production structure and consumption structure from the supply side and the demand side respec-tively.The development among different industries should be staggered,which is more conducive to the formation of a reasonable industrial structure.Digital economy should facilitate innovations in fields of technology,industry and production factors,thus pro-moting the improvement of industrial efficiency.The industrial upgrading and the con-struction of common-prosperity demonstration zones should be empowered by digital economy.As a result,the rural-urban divide will be reduced and common prosperity will be achieved.
