Chinese Cultural Circle and the Translation and Communication of Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture
In 2014,10 ministries including the Ministry of Education launched the"Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Translation and Communication Project"aiming at showcasing China's core values to the outside world.Since then,1,100 key concepts in Chinese thought and culture have been compiled and released.The translation and communication of key concepts in Chinese thought and culture is closely related to the cultural system of the language used to refer to the key concepts.This article is to discuss the translation and communication process as well as the characteristics of key concepts in Chinese culture at different levels in the Chinese cultural circle.Problems on multidimensional cognition as well as the translation and communication of key concepts in ancient and contemporary China,domestic and abroad exist in the"Inner Circle"native Chinese speakers.As for the"Outer Circle"where Chinese is used as the second language of Chinese minority ethnic groups,whether to use native or borrowed cultural key concepts,and the translation methods of cultural key concepts are indicators of language and cultural integration.In the"expansion circle"of overseas Chinese communities,traditional Sinosphere countries and target countries of the promotion and spread of Chinese language,the effective translation and communication of key concepts in Chinese thought and culture fundamentally depends on the enhancement of the international generality and influence of the Chinese language that carries and describes Chinese thought and culture.
