A Study of CSL Learner's Dictionary Lexicographers'Defining Processes and Strategies Based on the Think-aloud Protocols
Based on the think-aloud protocols,a study of the process and strategies of CSL Learner's Dictionary lexicographers with and without experience reveals the following:Firstly, the lexicographer's process of defining go through the three stages of"Initial Definition→In-depth Definition→Final Definition".These stages occur through the interactive dual pathways of"analyzing the definition content"and"selecting the definition form".Secondly, the lexicographers'defining strategies are hierarchical, with a total of 23 strategies, which can be classified into"Direct Strategies"and"Indirect Strategies".Third, there are significant differences in the process of lexicography and the use of strategies between experienced and inexperienced lexicographers, with definitions of inexperienced lexicographers having characteristics such as"weak consistency","weak user awareness","weak metacognitive awareness"and so on.Finally, the findings of this study provide insights and suggestions for the training of CSL Learner's Dictionary lexicographers.
