Starting from the related discussion of resource science and language science on things becoming resources and combining with the interdisciplinary knowledge,this paper returns to the origin and tries to put the resource in the development of human society to analyse its causes and demonstrations,and finds that things become resources is the result of the unity of the subjective usefulness and objective needs during their interaction with the development of human society.According to the fundamental role of language in the Information Era by meeting the production demand and living needs of human beings,it is definitely a kind of resource.The digital information and the digital technology are the driving force of the digital economy,in which language resources in data form(also called language data)can act as production factor.Language resources are the basic data for digital information and knowledge mining,language model development and training.They can contribute to the increase of economic efficiency and the optimization of economic structure.
