Impact of digital economy development on integration of culture and tourism industries:empirical study based on data from 30 provinces in China
Based on the data of 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2021,the paper respectively constructs a comprehen-sive evaluation system of digital economy development and that of integration of culture and tourism industries.With the method of principal component analysis,it makes an empirical study of the impact of digital economy development on the integration of culture and tourism industries in each province by using a two-way fixed-effect model with individual and time effects.In addition,it analyzes the non-linear relationship between digital economy development and integration of culture and tourism industries with a panel threshold model.It finds that digital economy development has a significant promoting effect on the integration of culture and tourism industries,and the empirical result is still robust after a series of robustness tests.Meanwhile,it uses instrumental variable method to eliminate bias caused by endogeneity.The promoting effects of the first-level indexes of digital economy development on the integration of culture and tourism industries are as follows(from the maximum to the minimum):industrial digitalization,digital industrialization,and digital finance.In the perspective of regional heterogeneity,digital economy development can significantly promote the integration of culture and tourism industries in all regions,but the effects in central and western regions are better than those in the eastern region.The non-linear analysis reveals that when the R&D intensity of digital technology crosses the threshold value,the promot-ing effect of digital economy development on the integration of culture and tourism industries becomes weaker and has an inverted U-shaped trend.Based on the above,some policy suggestions are put forward such as promoting digitalization of culture and tourism industries and cultivating digital talents.
