Under the context of building China into a leading sporting nation and pursing"Double First-Class"initiative,the acceleration of sports disciplines construction in Chinese universities with Chinese characteristic and world-class standards is a significant strategic task.With the method of literature review and logical analysis,this paper analyzes the historical evolution,realistic dilemma and future path of sports disciplines in Chinese universities.It is concluded that the sports disciplines in Chinese universities has undergone a development trajectory encompassing early germination,tortuous exploration,recovery and perfection,and prosperous development.Since the reform and opening up,especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,sports disciplines in Chinese universities has achieved remarkable accomplishments under the high attention of the Party and the state.However,in the new journey towards the high-quality development of sports disciplines,it still faces various challenges,including weak status and image of discipline,closed disciplinary organization models,weak disciplinary talent teams,lagging disciplinary institutional construction,lack of disciplinary cultural cultivation,poor quality of talent cultivation,low level of scientific research,weakened social service functions,and inadequate international exchange and cooperation.To address these challenges,the future construction of sports disciplines in Chinese universities should adhere to the core objective of high-quality development of sports disciplines in Chinese universities.It should accurately focus on the two tasks of enhancing the status image of sports disciplines and improving the reputation level of sports disciplines.And then accelerate the construction of the three major systems of"the sports disciplines system,academic system and discourse system".Furthermore,efforts should be made to given to four measures:focusing on the direction of disciplinary development,enhancing the construction of disciplinary talent pool,innovating disciplinary organization model,and improving disciplinary governance capacities.Additionally,it is vital to adhere to the five essential functions that includes innovating talent cultivation mechanisms,improving the quality of scientific research,strengthening the effectiveness of social services,promoting cultural inheritance and innovation,and deepening international exchange and cooperation.By doing so,it will accelerate the construction of world-class sports disciplines with Chinese characteristics,making significant contributions to building a leading sporting nation and healthy China.
