Contribution and Implication of National Sports Tourism Demonstration on the Development of Local Tourism Economy with Perspective of Combined Sport and Tourism
In 2022,the first batch of national sports tourism demonstration bases(2017)were evaluated, with 15 eliminated(elimination rate is 50%)and 32 newly added(increase rate is 68.09%).Will the national sports tourism demonstration bases drive the development of local tourism economy? This study selected the panel data of 46 prefecture level cities from 2013 to 2020 and used the double difference method to identify the policy effect and impact mechanism of the national sports tourism demonstration base on the regional tourism economy. The results showed:(1)In the study period, establishing the national sports tourism demonstration base failed to promote the development of regional tourism economy and the results are stable;(2)The policy effects of establishing the national sports tourism demonstration base on regional tourism economy are mainly influenced by social consumption and openness;(3)The negative impact of national sports tourism demonstration base in the eastern region on the tourism economy is slightly weaker than in the Mid-western region. It can be seen that the development benefits of the national sports tourism demonstration bases mainly come from the relevant building work, rather than the publicity effect brought about by obtaining the honorary title. Therefore,it is recommended that we should increase investment in fixed assets, balance economic development, stimulate residents'consumption and promote resource sharing. The demonstration base should ensure the sustainable development of tourism resources and makes reasonable use of the characteristics and advantages of scenic area.
